How to play
Two kinds of rows, one rack to empty. You'll have it in about two minutes.
You start with a rack of tiles and a table that already has some rows on it. Put every tile from your rack onto the table. That's the whole game.
The catch is that a row is only allowed to be one of two things.
A run
Three or more numbers in a row, all the same color.
A group
Three or four of the same number, all different colors.
What the game won't accept
You can rearrange the table
This is the part people miss at first, and it's where the game gets interesting. The rows already on the table aren't locked. You can pull tiles out of them and rebuild them however you like.
Say you're holding 3 and the table looks like this:
Your 3 doesn't fit anywhere. But split that run in two and it does:
Only the finished table gets checked. It can look like a mess while you're working, as long as every row is a proper run or group when your last tile lands.
So when a tile seems impossible to place, don't ask where it fits. Ask what you can take apart so that it fits.
The goal number
Every puzzle shows a goal, like goal 14. That's the smallest number of moves the puzzle can be solved in, and matching it is the best score you can get.
Moving one tile costs one move, whether it came from your rack or from somewhere on the table. Which means shuffling tiles around isn't free, and putting the same tile down twice costs you double.
Finishing is the easy half. Finishing on the goal is the game.
Getting tiles around
- Tap a tile to pick it up.
- Tap a row to drop it there, or + New row to start a new one.
- Tap your rack to put it back.
- Hold a tile to pin it, so you don't move it by accident while you rearrange things around it.
- Restart puts the board back to the beginning whenever you want.
One new board a day
A new daily challenge shows up every day, and everyone gets the same one, so scores are worth comparing. When you've finished it you don't have to wait until tomorrow: there are more puzzles right there, easier and harder.
It works with your connection off, too.
